I have held a number of jobs over the years. Most of which involved aspects of online marketing: search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO) and Social Media. Most of my former bosses have understood the necessity of having an online presence, but very few have grasped the technological limitations of such.

I once had a boss who asked me why I couldn't just 'unplug' our competitor's website during our holiday marketing campaign. I had another boss who asked me to write a program that would detect purchases on our competitor's website, cancel those transactions and then ship our products to the customers instead. But I digress...

It became readily apparent that the people in charge, were seldom the people who actually knew what was going on. At a friend's Halloween party, I began talking about these comical examples and soon a small crowd formed. To my surprise, everyone in the room had multiple 'Stupid Boss' stories of their own to share. It became clear that the only people who didn't have a stupid boss story, were those people who have never had a job.
